Submissions keep coming

It’s been over 2000 links now and they do keep coming in.  I’m glad to see the directory growing, but am likely not as quick as I was the first few weeks at reviewing and approving those links.  Rest assured I am getting to them.  In many cases I am rejected some links that are obvious duplicates, I suspect a few dupes have slipped through, but… I’m trying to weed those out.

The best way to be reviewed quickly is through a featured link - those will get quicker attention.

Busy Weekend

Well, Friday evening I announced the directory over at the digital point forums and by Saturday evening I had processed around 500 submissions and I think we’re closing in on 600 about now.  Not all of them were approved - among the most common reasons entries were rejected were 1) site unreachable or 2) not much more than a “welcome” post i.e. “there is no THERE there..”  no content!  So, to all of those that were rejected and suspect those may be the reason feel free to resubmit when you either have some content or make sure your site is reachable.  Thanks!

Starting the Directory

For the better part of 10 years I’ve had in mind to have a general interest web directory.  Maybe it was the frustration over the long approval times at sites like yahoo.com and dmoz.org, maybe it was just a desire to try my hand at categorizing and dealing with the vast list of favorite sites I had (and discovering others.)  In any case, at that time I didn’t have the software nor time to devote to a project like this.  I still don’t quite have an abundance of time, but the software is readily available.  All submitted links will be reviewed and if they appear to be sites setup JUST for the goal of throwing up a page to get traffic… they’ll probably be rejected.  If your site is rejected, I’m sorry, work on it, spend time developing it and adding content and resubmit someday.  (Resubmitting several times in a short period won’t help you…)
